Detox Salt Bath

Measurements for Epsom salt bath:

  • Children below 60 pounds: half a cup.
  • Persons in the range of 60-100 lbs: 1 cup.
  • Persons in the range of 100-150 pounds: 1 ½ cups.
  • Persons in the range of 150-200 pounds: 2 cups.
  • For each additional 50 lb – add an extra half a cup of salts.

If by any chance you do not have both salts at hand, you can perform this bath by taking either one of them, but for optimal results it would be best to combine both of them. However, if you have no detox experience or this is your first detox salt bath, we advise you to start only with Epsom salt, and in your next salt bath add the Himalayan salt.

Bear in mind:

If you are struggling with some kind of heart disease or you are having open wounds and burns, or if you are with a child, then this detox salt bath is not recommended. Likewise, if you are on long-lasting medication prior use advise your doctor.

Preparation of a Detox Salt Bath

Prior soaking in this bath, you need to properly clean the bath tub and then rinse it so that there is no dirt or mold in it. After that, fill the bath tub with warm water– 37o Celsius (or 97o Fahrenheit) in order for the body not to use its energy to balance out the temperature. Also, this temperature of water is sufficient enough to dissolve both salts. If you have high blood pressure then the use of hot water is not recommended.

Do a shampoo bath before soaking in the salt bath. In the salt bath do not use any hair or body shampoos, oils, or soaps. When you finish with the salt bath, do not rinse, just towel dry.

Consumption of Food and Drinks

You are not supposed to consume heavy meals before taking this bath, only a healthy and light meal. This will help you not to feel dizziness at the end of the detox bath caused by low sugar or an empty stomach.

Hydratation is a must – therefore, consume plenty of water before and after the bath during the whole day. We suggest taking a bottle of water while you are doing the bath and drink it along having the bath. Relax by listening to some nice music.

For optimal effects, soak for at least 40 minutes. In this period of time, the body will efficiently absorb all the minerals from the salts.

Have in mind that due to lot of detoxification activities going on in the body you may feel dizzy. Therefore, do not leave the bath immediately, but leave the water to drain out and get out from it slowly.

The water will turn into a milky color or even become brownish if you are a smoker or under constant influence of industrial toxins. The color depends on what state is your health and how often you take this salt bath. We recommend taking it once to three times a week, if you can handle it.
